When Chicago's own DestooDaaKidd finally dropped her highly anticipated project, The Last 25, expectations were already high. After pressing play, I wasn't surprised that it was a solid listen but I was surprised by how much she packed into just eight records. From flipping a freestyle into a full fledged song to switching flows effortlessly throughout the project, Destoo proves she's more than capable of keeping listeners locked in from beginning to end. The only real complaint? Eight songs just weren't enough.

The Last 25 features eight tracks with only two guest appearances, proving that DestooDaaKidd doesn't need a long feature list to make an impact. Standout records like "No Amateur," "Spankin Shi," "Safety" featuring Mirvana and Meta Being, and "Brickcode (Underground Freestyle)" immediately grab your attention. "Brickcode" is especially a standout because fans of The Underground Radio Show will recognize it as the freestyle she originally performed on air before transforming it into a complete record; a creative move that paid off.

One thing that deserves recognition is the sequencing of the album. Every track transitions smoothly into the next, making the project feel intentional instead of thrown together. The production is crisp, hard hitting, and professionally mixed, allowing Destoo's delivery and lyricism to stay front and center without ever being overshadowed by the beats. The closing bonus record, "Slippin," serves as the perfect reminder that this chapter may be called The Last 25, but DestooDaaKidd's journey is far from over.

DestooDaaKidd continues to prove she's one of Chicago's rising artists to keep your eyes on. She's one of the few artists who can confidently carry an entire project with little to no assistance, relying on sharp bars, confidence, and versatility rather than a stacked feature list. Whether she's talking her talk, switching cadences, or delivering punchlines, she sounds comfortable in every pocket she steps into.

Overall, The Last 25 is a project that deserves replay value and a spot in your rotation. My only issue is that it left me wanting more;

which isn't a bad problem to have.
